米国人に聞く★郵便番号
上野公園を散歩していたら、郵便局に勤めているアメリカ人に会いました。そこで上野公園を案内しながら色々質問してみました。
アメリカの郵便システムについて教えてください。
I’m sure our postal system is similar to Japan’s. First we have a zip code.
日本にも郵便番号があります。たしかアメリカの郵便番号は５桁ですが、各々の数字はどういう意味があるのですか？
Our zip code is 84121. The 8 is Utah. The 41 is area near Salt Lake. The 21 is around our neighborhood.
Theoretically, if you put a name and a zip code on a letter it would get to our neighborhood. Then if some clever postman recognized the name it might get to the individual even without an address. Do not test that theory, though.
